How do interest lists work?

When you sign up to an interest list for a cooperative or rental property, you are expressing your interest in a particular property. Each time a property becomes available, the landlord or cooperative selects a person from the pool of interested parties.

To increase your chances of being selected, it is important to submit a application when joining an interest list.

Your application should briefly explain why you are interested in the property or cooperative, how many people will be living in the apartment, and how long you intend to stay. Be sure to include all relevant documents, such as proof of income or references, to strengthen your application. We have also made a general guide, with tips and tricks for your apartment hunt.
